bald is beautiful! jesse anthony to shave head to help conquer kids' cancer

Boulder, CO (March 14, 2007) In an effort to raise awareness and money for pediatric cancer research, Jesse Anthony, a member of the Kodak Gallery Pro Cycling Team, presented by Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. has volunteered to have his head shaved on Saturday, March 17th in Boulder, Colorado.

The St. Patrick's Day event is sponsored by the St. Baldrick's Foundation. What began eight years ago as a casual conversation between three Irish friends, has exploded into the world's biggest volunteer-driven fundraising program for childhood cancer! Events have taken place in 10 countries and 42 US states, raising over $20 million, and shaving more than 26,000 heads.

On Saturday, at the Republic of Boulder, in downtown Boulder, Colorado, Jesse Anthony will take a seat in the barber's chair. The chair time will provide Jesse his only rest of the weekend as he will also be participating in two separate races on Saturday and in a rigorous road race on Sunday.

"As an organization, we feel very strongly about giving back to the communities where our riders live," commented Team Communications Director, Rob O'Dea. "This is a great example of how a single bike racer can leverage his celebrity to make a difference. We're very proud and appreciative of the example Jesse is setting and of the generosity shown by all of our supporters and sponsors who will contribute to this great cause."

The Team has also donated a 2007 jersey, autographed by the entire Kodak Gallery Pro Cycling Team, and an official team cap, for the event's silent auction. If you are in Boulder on Saturday, be sure to stop by the Republic of Boulder between 11:00am and 3:00pm to check out the auction and to cheer on Jesse!

Please take a minute to visit Jesse's page on the St. Baldrick's website and to make a donation - every penny counts in this important effort!
